Chief Compliance Officer

James has over a decade of experience in financial services, spanning mortgage advice, regulation and senior compliance leadership. Before joining Capital Finance, he spent five years with Canada Life, where he was Chief Compliance Officer for several businesses, including Stonehaven Equity Release and its Asset Management business, with additional responsibility for the Hong Kong branch. He specialises in regulatory governance, Consumer Duty and ensuring the delivery of good customer outcomes.

Earlier in his career, James worked at the Financial Conduct Authority supervising mortgage brokers, lenders and other retail lending firms, giving him a unique perspective on both regulation and the practical operation of financial services businesses.

Outside work, James is an elected councillor on Southend City Council and currently serves as Leader of the Opposition.
